Project: Lapwing Meadows

Client: The RSPB, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England and the Environment Agency

Lapwing Meadows is a partnership between the RSPB, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England and the Environment Agency that aims to revitalise the wetlands of the Weald and Baggy moors in Shropshire and enable breeding waders and a host of other wildlife to flourish in the area.

Pleydell Smithyman Limited were commissioned by the partnership to carry out an audience analysis and local community consultation to inform future planning and provide evidence of community support.

This took the form of a two stage approach. Stage one focused on desk top research exploring demographic data and relevant local, regional and national policies. Stage two focused on engaging the local community with four consultation events, a questionnaire to existing and potential RSPB members within the community and a focus group session.

The final report produced by Pleydell Smithyman Limited will now be used to support the further development of the project and future funding applications.
